October 4, 2020, marks the 300th birth anniversary of Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-78), the celebrated Venetian-born Roman architect, delineator and theorist. Piranesi\u2019s work influenced generations of architects and painters, in his own time and centuries later.<\/p>\n
An exhibition, Learning from Piranesi: Architectural Representation and Tectonics<\/em>, celebrates the 300th<\/sup> birth anniversary of Giovanni Battista Piranesi. The exhibition, created by George Dodds, Alvin and Sally Beaman Professor of Architecture, will be on display at the Ewing Gallery Jan. 20-Feb. 17, 2021. Learn the hours and location of Ewing Gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n The exhibit focuses on Piranesi\u2019s many studies of ancient Roman construction techniques published in several of his major collected works.
