This is an annual event convening of industry experts, innovative technologies, and educational sessions led by some of the discipline&#8217;s top experts.\u00a0 More than 140 education sessions, field sessions, workshops, and general sessions were offered, ranging in topics from landscape performance and the human health component to systems ecology.\u00a0 Pioneers like Peter Walker (who <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/archdesign.utk.edu\/16-sept-peter-walker-before-the-memorial-continuing-education-lecture\/\">lectured\u00a0at UT<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>this fall), Laurie Olin, Michael Van Valkenburg, and countless others presented.<\/p>\n<p>For the past two years, the<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/archdesign.utk.edu\/academics\/graduate-landscape-architecture\/\">UT Landscape Architecture Program<\/a><\/strong> has offered full support for student delegates to attend this national meeting. \u00a0This year, the Tennessee Student ASLA chapter vice president, Clay Lezon and I, chapter\u00a0president, Angelike Angelopoulos attended the conference\u00a0on program scholarships. We were joined by fellow student Cameron Rodman.\u00a0 Each of the MLA students engaged with professionals and industry leaders through the educational workshops, the Industry Expo and alumni reception.<\/p>\n<p>2013 was the first year in the reception\u2019s history that UT was represented. Students at UT\u2019s reception table greeted professionals from across the state of TN, friends of the program from around the country, as well as program alumni and other UT graduates who had gone on to purse graduate studies in landscape architecture at other institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty members <strong><a title=\"Brad Collett\" href=\"http:\/\/archdesign.utk.edu\/faculty-staff\/facultystaff\/brad-collett\/\">Brad Collett<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><a title=\"Curtis Stewart\" href=\"http:\/\/archdesign.utk.edu\/faculty-staff\/facultystaff\/curtis-stewart\/\">Curtis Stewart<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a title=\"Gale Fulton\" href=\"http:\/\/archdesign.utk.edu\/faculty-staff\/facultystaff\/gale-fulton\/\">Gale Fulton<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0also attended the conference, maintaining full schedules with visits to multiple Boston area firms, as well as meetings with potential graduate students. During the session breaks, UT representatives toured the city of Boston, making stops along the Freedom Trail to see the U.S.S.
