Chancellor Donde Plowman announced on Oct. 2 that i<\/a>n-person commencement will take place between Nov. 19-22<\/a>. These ceremonies, to be held in Thompson-Boling Arena, will celebrate spring, summer and fall 2020 graduates. Numbers of guests will be limited, and other safety measures will be in place.<\/p>\n

The date and time of the college\u2019s commencement for fall 2020 graduates is Nov. 21, 8:00 p.m.<\/strong> Fall 2020 graduates must RSVP for commencement by Oct. 23, 11:59 p.m., <\/strong>for commencement using a form UT sent to them in October, and they can instead choose to participate in spring 2021 commencement. Details of the spring 2021 commencement have not been finalized. Read details, deadlines and more about the college\u2019s fall 2020 commencement<\/a>, and note that graduates from other colleges will be participating in the same ceremony.<\/p>\n
Ceremonies will take place each day for the four consecutive days (Nov. 19-22) with three ceremonies per day for a total of 12 ceremonies. Spring and summer 2020 graduates can attend any one of the 12 ceremonies. To participate in a commencement ceremony, spring and summer 2020 graduates must register by Oct. 21, 11:59 p.m.,<\/strong> using the information sent in early October to the UTK e-mail addresses of graduates.<\/p>\n
At each of the 12 ceremonies, a total of 200 spring\/summer 2020 graduates will be allowed so that social distancing can be achieved. For details about the dates and time of the available ceremonies, visit UT\u2019s coronavirus website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
The ceremonies will be somewhat different but not virtual. Graduates will be able to walk across the stage in keeping with the spirit of the occasion. All ceremonies will be webcast.<\/p>\n
