3D Printing Translate your project visions into physical, three-dimensional models.
Starting Fall 2022, CoAD users have greater flexibility in the way to access rapid prototyping resources.
Printing is accessible using one of the three following methods
– Cloud Based
- CoAD 3d printing has gone to the cloud and contactless!(A+A & Fab Lab)
- Great for most users, most availble printers, remote submission.
- To get started with 3dPrinterOS Click here聽
– User Centered
- The user is responsible for all tasks, puts user in full control and all options are available.
- Great for using custom materials and/or user generate code (in-person- Fab Lab)
- Advanced users, limited availablility.
– Check-out- (in trial)
- Though the DFL, we have a small quantity of printers that users can reserve and utilize in studio (A+A)
- Studio based usage, short term.
Our college is home to many 3D printing options.聽 There’s a type for just about every need.
FDM: Fused Disposition Modeling
The most popular type of three-dimensional printing (3D) and the most readily available within the college is “fused disposition modeling.” FDM printers work by laying thin layers of melted thermoplastic material on top of one another to form a shape. As the material cools it will harden to form your 3D object.
These options give you an opportunity to decide which machine/s will create your products/objects to meet your requirements.

Stereolithography
Printers using Stereolithography technology use a beam of UV light to cure a photopolymer resin. When light hits the resin, the resin hardens, giving you a high resolution 3D model of the object you had modeled.
