Join us for a public lecture by Jordan Goldstein, Gensler’s Global Director of Design, on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020. The lecture, funded by Gensler, will take place in Rm. 109/McCarty Auditorium, 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm.聽 All are welcome.

Goldstein will be lecturing on Points of View: Lessons Learned from the Frontlines of Global Practice. Gensler鈥檚 collaborative approach to design stretches across 50 offices worldwide–shaping the future of cities every day through the work of 6,500 talented professionals. Goldstein oversees the firm鈥檚 focus on design innovation and project delivery. He is an award-winning architect who has led the design of more than 8 million square feet of projects in the US and abroad.

Goldstein also serves on the firm鈥檚 Board of Directors, helping shape the vision and strategy that drive Gensler鈥檚 offices and people worldwide. Throughout his 25-plus-year career, Goldstein has provided design vision and leadership on projects that range in scale from mass-produced products to refined hospitality and workplace environments in the DC metropolitan area to large mixed-use projects in China and Southeast Asia. The award-winning Duke Kunshan project is the first full international campus for a leading American university in China and that nation鈥檚 first LEED-certified campus.

What unites these diverse projects is an interdisciplinary approach and a focus on the human experience, resulting in spaces, places and products equally attuned to functional considerations and visceral impact. His projects have received recognition from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), American Institute of Architects (AIA), Washington Business Journal, and NAIOP, among others. His work has also appeared in various periodicals, including Architect, Interior Design, Contract, Fortune, US News & World Report, The Washington Post, and Dwell.

In 2015, the Washington Business Journal named him one of the 25 top innovators in Washington, DC, and has included him on its list of the 100 most influential leaders in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area in 2013, 2015 and 2017.

An advocate of helping the next generation of architects and designers prepare for tomorrow, Goldstein frequently teaches at universities in the US and abroad. He has taught a graduate course on design at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Master in Architecture degree, and has previously taught at the University of Maryland, where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree.

For his work uniting academia and practice, Goldstein was named the University of Maryland Kea Distinguished Professor in 2016.
