Join us for the Public Interiority Exhibition at the from Jan. 17-Feb. 18, 2023. Along with this exhibition is a symposium hosted by the School of Interior Architecture and held on Feb. 18, 2023, in the Art + Architecture Building. The exhibition and symposium are free and open to the public.

The symposium and exhibition aim to establish a global platform to investigate public interiority—places that feel like interiors—inside, outside or in between. TheÌýexhibition prompts designers and artists to address the intersections between experience-based interiority and the city, and it explores human-scaled, adaptable and phenomenologically-driven spaces. Exhibited works include representations of atmospheres, politics, architectural forms, experiences and psychologies that help us see outside places as if they were inside places. This idea of the public interior expands interiority beyond the simple enclosure and asserts an equal claim on urbanity and the commons.

Work in the exhibit represents designers from around the world, including Italy and Canada as well as the U.S.: Texas, Kentucky, Ohio, Wisconsin, Nebraska and of course, Tennessee. All designers as well as all community members are invited to attend the closing reception, which begins at 5:30 p.m. in the gallery.

The Ewing Gallery of Art + Architecture is located at 1715 Volunteer Blvd. .
