January 8, 2020Architecture Students’ Sustainable Designs Recognized
In December, students were recognized by two organizations for their designs during fall 2019.
The Student Design Award and Sustainable Design Award were presented on Dec. 9, 2019. These awards were given to students who collaborated to create designs focused on sustainability.
Architects from Brewer Ingram Fuller presented the Sustainable Design Award to the student team of Cameron Davis and Schuyler Davis for their project titled, “[en]root.” These students were from Kevin Stevens’s studio. Students Arden Gillchrest and Spencer Lowe from Hansjoerg Goeritz’s Studio received honorable mention for the Brewer Ingram Fuller Sustainable Design Awards, with their redesign project of the Dia Beacon Art Campus.
The Brewer Ingram Fuller Sustainable Design Award was established by an endowed gift from Brewer Ingram Fuller Architects in ¿ì»îÊÓƵ, which was founded by UT School of Architecture alumni, Dan Brewer (’77), Lee Ingram (’76) and Anthony Fuller (’76). The purpose of the award is to encourage architecture students to incorporate sustainable design strategies in their work to be better prepared to lead when they enter the profession.

Second place, a tie, was awarded to students Haley Dennis and Isabella West from Mark DeKay’s studio and Arden Gillchrest and Spencer Lowe from Goeritz’s studio. Dennis and West’s project was titled, “Nature’s Learning Ground,” and Gillchrest and Lowe’s project was for the Dia Beacon Art Campus.
